"GOLF'S GREATEST HOLES" PROVES A HIT WITH SKY SPORTS VIEWERS
"The show rated very well, better than equivalent shows in those scheduled slots and there was positive customer feedback,” said Jason Wessely, Director of Golf at Sky Sports, who aired the second episode two days and will show it a further 16 times until broadcasting episode three on Monday 8 November.

It follows 15 screenings on Sky for the opening 30-minute episode since being aired for the first time on 11 October. "We’ve had some brilliant feedback on the show and how it captures the fun of playing golf, as well as taking on the course and the elements at the same time,” said Chris Hollins, who also helped produce the first Series. "Viewers also talk about the local history we unveil and what makes these holes so special to anyone who loves playing the game. We couldn’t have asked for a better reception to the show from the golfing community…and not just in the island of Ireland!” Focusing on Paul McGinley’s native Ireland and nearby Northern Ireland, the first six episodes include challenging holes at iconic courses such as Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Adare Manor, Lahinch and Rosapenna.

One course that featured prominently in the opening episode was Old Head Golf Links in Kinsale, situated on a stunning headland stretching out over two miles into the Atlantic. "We have had members get in touch from all over the world who saw the first episode on TV, as well as promotional pieces on social media and everyone associated with the Old Head club is delighted to be involved,” said Director of Golf, Danny Brassil. "The show will have a tremendous impact following the global pandemic. Paul McGinley did an excellent job and we were delighted to hear him speak so passionately about Old Head. He is a priceless ambassador for golf in Ireland,” he added. Royal Belfast, the oldest club on in Ireland, also featured in the first episode as the former Ryder Cup Captain asked Chris Hollins to play the picturesque par-3 on the back nine. "It’s a great privilege to be recognised as one of the best golf courses in Ireland,” said CEO, Stuart Thom. "The show will now put Royal Belfast on people’s bucket list and be recognised as the best parkland in Northern Ireland and I hope people come and play and enjoy the 11th hole as much as Chris did,” he added. Some of the finest golf holes in the world will be featured over the next four years as the six-part Series reaches more than 500 million households in 189 countries. More than 20 broadcasters around the world have committed to screening the Series from this Autumn, with at least four broadcasts each year. Other destinations planned for future episodes include the USA, the Caribbean, Australia and parts of Continental Europe.
