How to build a water storage reservoir, at zero cost.

Green Build Environmental is one of the country’s leading experts in land remediation, restoration, and soil recovery.
Using this know how, they help golf clubs deliver major course improvements, without requiring any capital investment whatsoever from the club itself.
This includes water storage reservoirs for irrigation, which has become a critical asset for any club given climate change and the drought experienced this year.
Sound too good to be true? Well, here’s how they explain it.
The left image illustrates a conventionally excavated reservoir, costing the club a potentially 6-figure sum to deliver.
The right image illustrates a reservoir built by depositing a mound of soil with a concave basin, and without the need to excavate.
The significant monies that property developers pay to remove suitable excess soils, are used to pay for the importation and shaping of this reservoir mound, at zero cost to the golf club.
Depending on the contouring of the course, it may also be possible to part-utilise dips in the land to build the reservoir; sometimes even creating lake features as part of the course.
Operating professionally is very important to us.
We work alongside major blue-chip partners, undertaking such projects as HS2, Crossrail, Thames Tidalway, DP World (Dubai Ports), Amazon Distribution, and many more.
Our team of Environmental Consultants includes Tom Harris, who co-wrote the WM3 guidelines that are used by The Environment Agency.
In addition, we work with some of the UK’s leading Golf Architects.
Working with the major developers means that we have access to enormous amounts of suitable soil, verified by our scientists, for use in Golf course remediation.
The model is very simple. Property developers incur significant costs for the removal and disposal of their excess soil.
By working in partnership with you, we offer them the ability to deposit suitable soil at your golf course for a lesser price, so improving their margin.
The revenue generated, along with the incoming soils obtained, enables us to fully fund the work at the golf course.
All fees associated with Architectural Design, Planning Permission, Environmental Permitting, Earthworks, Drainage, Shaping, Soft Landscaping, Finishing etc, are included.
This approach is how we can guarantee there is no cost to the club at any point. With the added potential of additional funds for the club’s coffers also.
Green Build Environmental begin by working with you to understand improvements that could be delivered to the course, and the viability of such works.
That could include remodelling, repairing, adding practice facilities, or other.
We remove all risk, along with the financial burden of a refused application that has had several hundred hours of consultancy fees to prepare being incurred.
Then our project team manages the project from beginning to end.
Overall, it’s a win win for all involved.
The Developer, the Golf Club, and Green Build; simply by clever structuring of the use of and payment for the soil from the Developer.
