Lanark Golf Club

18 Hole Par70 Course, Pro Shop, Junior Academy
A wonderful golfing experience awaits you at Lanark, the 25th oldest golf club in the world. The moorland course is one of Scotland’s finest and the clubhouse facilities have recently been upgraded to a high standard. There is a well-stocked professional’s shop, practice area and an interesting little 9-hole course. The resident Chef is very well regarded for outstanding catering.

The course is located just outside the historic market town of Lanark in the Upper Clyde Valley. It is maintained to the highest green-keeping standards and is renowned for its smooth, fast greens, natural moorland fairways and beautiful, unspoilt views across Scotland's rolling South Upland hills.

You are most welcome to visit and experience Scottish moorland golf at its best. A warm welcome awaits you at Lanark Golf Club.

Our Course

The course is built on a substrate of glacial sands, providing classic moorland fairways which drain freely and are playable all year. No expense has been spared to ensure the Head Greenkeeper, Jim Lyon, has the most modern equipment. This, coupled with his skill and knowledge, ensures the course is always presented in excellent condition.

The layout is tough but fair. It is an ideal length and difficulty to challenge the best golfers, yet also hugely rewarding for the average player, not least because of the sheer pleasure of playing a great course in a glorious natural moorland setting surrounded by inspirational scenery.

The 6428 yard, par 70 layout provides a rewarding challenge to golfers of all abilities and has been host to the R&A on 11 occasions as a regional pre-qualifying venue for the Open Championship. The course has hosted the British Girls' Championship in 2005, the Scottish Girls' Championship in 2009, the Scottish Youth Championship in 2013 and it is a frequent PGA Tartan Tour venue, the Girls' Home Internationals in 2015 and the Scottish Boys' Stoke Play Championships in 2016.

Recommendations
The superb quality of Lanark’s greens is praised by all who play the course. They are large, undulating, smooth and fast and are simply a joy to putt on.

Many well-known golfers rate Lanark very highly. Tony Jacklin is an honorary member and Ronan Rafferty, respected commentator and former Ryder Cup player, is a frequent visitor. Ronan comments that the course has "some of the finest greens and best views you will find in Scotland." This view is echoed by Colin Dalgleish, the former GB&I Walker Cup Captain, who said that "Lanark Golf Club is justly proud of its fine layout and great greens. It also offers spectacular views plus a warm welcome and I recommend it highly to any visiting golfer".
