18 Hole Par72 Course, Pro Shop

This 18 hole, par 72 course of 6184 yards provides a good test of golf for all abilities having an inland links feel due to its rolling fairways and contoured greens.

It offers holes that with their natural and artificial hazards require drives to be accurately placed, approaches carefully judged and greens expertly read. It is characterised by undulating fairways sometimes intersected by dry-stone walls that provide a testing hazard. Small contoured greens demand well-placed shots, and even if on in regulation, a par is by no means a certainty. The elements play an important role - Broadway on a breezy day can be a tough challenge!

The course has been a sheep walk down the centuries, with some older parts registered with English Heritage as an ancient monument. A burial ground, a long barrow, has been discovered near the clubhouse & the fortifications of a British Camp run along the edge of the 14th fairway.

There are three excellent par 3's with characters of their own, but the 5th stands out as the signature hole. Designed by Dr Alistair McKenzie of Augusta fame in the 1920's, this par 3 requires pin point accuracy onto a contoured green some 100ft below the tee. Normally a 7 iron but even a driver when the elements are against you.

The course is rated in the top twenty in the South West and kept in excellent condition all year round by the Head Green Keeper, Jamie Blake, and his team of highly experienced greens staff.
