Epsom Golf Club

18 Hole Par70 Course, Pro Shop, Indoor Simulator, Academy, Junior Coaching

Epsom, a friendly Club with a 132-year heritage, founded in 1889, warmly welcomes new members and visitors. Its 18 holes are unique, offering a wide variety of holes that provide a challenge for golfers of all abilities, and the undulations of the greens have made them legendary in the area, testing even the smoothest of putters.

Situated on the top of the North Downs golfers experience stunning panoramic views of London’s skyline and because the subsoil of the course is chalk it benefits from great drainage and is seldom affected by rain, making it one of the driest winter courses in Surrey, often open when others are not.

Members and visitors enjoy a historic Clubhouse offering food and refreshments all day, a full range of practice facilities, a Pro-shop stocked with a full range of the latest golf products as well as expert advise and tuition.

Course

Epsom’s panoramic 18 hole course on top of the Downs offers a unique and intriguing challenge to golfers of all abilities, having been dramatically changed and improved since the Club was founded in 1889.

At 5,780 yards the course offers a wide variety of traditional downland holes, with no two holes alike. From some tees the hole seems tight through trees whereas others seem more open but the undulating fairways and greens ensure that good concentration and application are required. Many say that the course at Epsom is a great leveler because guile and skill replace the ability to drive balls a long way as on many modern courses. However, it is Epsom’s greens that are legend. Consistent and very true, they offer a very demanding test because of their mixture of surprising speed and undulation. Only the 18th green can boast to be level and it is also the only hole at Epsom to feature bunkers.

The Downs form a natural topography for golf, presenting a course as nature intended, full of character and challenging golfers to use a full repertoire of shots. The subsoil is chalk so drainage is fantastic and golf is often played at Epsom when other courses are closed.
