Situated in the heart of the English Lake District, Windermere Golf Club is regarded as one of the finest courses in Cumbria.

"Courses don’t come much more scenic than this magical layout at the heart of the Lake District and boasting quality USGA-spec greens." – Todays Golfer

"…. a joyous layout of meandering becks, sweeping descents, strenuous ascents, rocky outcrops, and swathes of luxuriant heather, especially on the front nine.
You start off up and over a blind crest, which sets the Windermere tone, then duck and dive your way through a series of wondrous holes, all the while accompanied by stunning Lakeland backdrops.” – Golf Monthly

Windermere offers a truly friendly welcome to all visitors, whether wishing to play the course, soak up the friendly atmosphere in the bar or enjoy the stunning scenery whilst eating in our restaurant.

Drop in and visit us - we look forward to sharing our course with you.

The Golf Course

Situated in the heart of the Lake District, the course is awe inspiring, with the natural rolling landscape providing protection for the course which measures a modest 5122 yards (par 67 with a standard scratch of 66).

Situated in a World Heritage Site with the stringent planning permissions of a National Park, the course has to manage without bunkers, but natural hazards including heather and bracken in the rough combined with narrow fairways and rocky outcrops ensures that the course provides a challenge to golfers of all levels and abilities.

With some of the best USGA standard greens in the country, paired with fantastic fairways, the course is famous for its excellent condition. The greenkeeping team work hard to ensure that throughout the year the quality of the playing surface matches the quality of the views – on a clear day players can get wonderful 360 degree panoramic views from Morecambe Bay in the South, Coniston Old Man in the West, the Langdales and Fairfield Horseshoe in the North before sweeping round to High Street in the North East and the Pennines in the East. The welcome at Windermere matches it’s wonderful course and spectacular landscape; we know that you will not be disappointed.

Practice Facilities

The Club offers a range of practice facilities for the use of members and visitors who have registered at golf reception including:

Practice Ground
An open 240 yard practice area by the side of the 3rd hole. A short walk or drive (parking available) from the clubhouse or the main car park.
The practice area has flags set at 100, 150 and 200 yards as well as a small pitching area to the side. Users can practice from a variety of positions and we just ask that divots are filled or replaced after use and that all golfers are considerate to other players on the practice area and those golfers playing the third hole.
Golfers are required to use their own practice balls.

Pitching Area
A 100 yard pitching area to the left of the 1st hole past the greenkeepers sheds.
The area includes a slightly raised green with 3 holes and a practice bunker. Two practice nets are provided in this area.

Chipping & Putting
A practice putting green and chipping area are situated by the Clubhouse overlooking the 17th hole. Fine tune your short game prior to embarking on your round.
