Cirencester Golf Club

18 Hole Course, Junior Academy, Driving Range, Practice Facilities
A friendly welcome. Breathtaking scenery. Superb facilities. Over 125 years of history. You’ll find it all at Cirencester Golf Club, and because our mature course was built on free-draining limestone, we’re open all year round too. So why not take advantage of our ‘no bookable tee times’ policy and join us for a round, or even as a member? We’ll be sure to make you feel at home.

Our mature James Braid designed course is situated 2 miles outside of the ancient market town of Cirencester, in the heart of the Cotswolds. It boasts glorious views towards Cirencester and the Marlborough Downs beyond, as well as a rich variety of flora and fauna.

The 18 holes are carefully tended by our dedicated green staff and set up to cater for all grades of golfer. The fairways and semi rough are generous and the rough is fair. The small greens and 51 bunkers defend the course well – miss the green on the wrong side and you’ll be left with a testing chip shot. The greens generally provide you with a good mix of undulations and subtle interest (especially when you walk on the first green, which will test any putting stroke!).

We’re fortunate that our course sits on free-draining limestone, as this means we can keep the course open all year round (except in snow or lightning). It also means we can maintain first class surfaces all year round – even during the winter months, where no artificial surfaces have to be used – all the way from the 1st tee to the 18th green.

As for the future, we’ll strive to continue producing playing surfaces of the highest quality. We’ll make course improvements, where appropriate, to cater for the demands of the modern game and advancements in machinery available. And we’ll do it all in a sustainable way.

"The course is always in great condition and there’s a ‘no mat’ winter policy, as it drains so well. Because of that, it’s rare for the course to be closed.” Quoted by Lewis Flett, who joined in January 2013

Our Driving Range is open to all, 7 days a week, with lights for evening practice. There are six covered bays kitted out with the latest ‘True Strike’ mats, which have the feel of real grass when you hit our quality Srixon range balls off them. Plus, outside, just to the right of the bays, we’re thrilled to have opened our new grass practice teeing area.

You can buy tickets for the ball dispenser from the Pro Shop or the Club Bar. During the winter, we have lights in our bays from 4.00pm to 8.00pm.

So come and hit some balls on our Driving Range. It’s well worth a visit and really puts our Golf Club into a league of its own in terms of quality practice facilities in the Cotswolds.

If you like to practise regularly and want to try out our fantastic facilities, a social membership is a great way of testing them out, before you step up to our full membership.

Our recently upgraded practice area is conveniently situated by the Club House, adjacent to the first tee. So, you’ll have no excuse for not warming up before you tee off! The area includes a two-tiered practice green, a practice bunker and a putting green, giving you the opportunity to practice a selection of short game shots.
