Skilfully carved out of ancient Sussex heathland in 1904, Piltdown Golf Club enjoys a colourful history, a stunning location, and a devoted following among golfers young and old. Visitors are drawn again and again to our challenging heather-lined 18 hole course, excellent practice facilities and welcoming period clubhouse.
We are proud of the fact that Piltdown is a members’ club that offers a sense of belonging to something special. At Piltdown we embrace the traditions and history of the game of golf, whilst still being forward thinking and modern in our attitude.
We look forward to welcoming you soon to a golf club that visitors love to return to. As one recently said "I don’t know what it is about Piltdown but something just keeps bringing you back”.
Piltdown was always considered a "hidden gem" but we are delighted that it is not quite so hidden anymore, as we regularly feature among the Top 100 Golf Courses in England.
Piltdown’s 18-hole course has no bunkers, but its narrow fairways, small greens and abundant heather, gorse and gullies provide a tempting challenge for the bold, strategic player.
An undercover driving range is situated at the southern end of the main car park (tokens for the range balls can be purchased from the Professional's shop).
At the end of the range we also have an indoor swing room with modern club fitting technology and a golf simulator.
A putting green, a chipping green and two practice nets are situated on the northern side of the Clubhouse
