Welcome to Ormskirk Golf Club
Where we take pride in extending a warm welcome to Members and Visitors alike.
Situated a mere seven miles from the Southport coast, founded in 1899, the Club offers a 6,533-yard, par-70 course over 125 acres. Previously the Old Deer Park of Lathom House, its easy-walking heathland feels well off the beaten track despite its proximity to the historic market town of Ormskirk. Away from the traffic noise and hurly-burly of everyday life, our immaculate surroundings have been the venue for numerous Regional Open Qualifying events and County Matches. As recently as 2016, we also hosted the Lancashire Amateur Championship and Lancashire Professional Golfers’ Association Championship, both to considerable acclaim.
Part of our secret is the way we treat all Visitors as "Members for the day”. We offer a full range of catering at our traditional Clubhouse, and the views across the course are simply outstanding. Not surprisingly, our Members call the Clubhouse terrace "the best beer garden around”!
The Course
Situated within ten miles of Southport and Lancashire’s Golf Coast, the easy-walking heathland of Ormskirk Golf Club combines the charm of a secluded haven with a challenging course that appeals to all abilities.
Founded in 1899, it offers a 6,533-yard, par-70 course set over 125 acres. Previously occupied by the Royal Deer Park of Lathom House, its lush fairways feel well off the beaten track despite their proximity to the historic market town of Ormskirk. As you stroll to your next tee, there is a sense of history all around you. New Park House, with its moat, was situated in the woods between the eighth and ninth holes, whilst the crescent-shaped hollow to the left of the sixteenth is where Cromwell's forces reputedly laid siege to it in 1644.
The course at Ormskirk Golf Club is the work of the renowned designer and champion golfer, Harold Hilton. Comprising two nines, both exacting in their different ways, its immaculate surroundings feel far removed from the traffic noise and hurly-burly of everyday life. Not surprisingly, it has hosted numerous Regional Open Qualifying events and County Matches. As recently as 2016, it was the acclaimed venue for both the Lancashire Amateur Championship and the Lancashire Professional Golfers’ Association Championship. Mark Ashworth’s last-round 63 to win the County Championship was lauded as one of the finest in living memory.
And before or after play, a warm reception and excellent catering are the order of the day in the Edwardian Clubhouse. The views across the course from the dining room veranda are nothing short of outstanding. All reasons why Ormskirk Golf Club is regarded by many as a hidden gem — and a secluded haven where visitors are always welcome.
The members and staff of Ormskirk Golf Club pride ourselves in offering a warm welcome to our visitors, both individual golfers and organised groups, every day of the week including Saturday and Sunday (subject to availability).
