Ashby Decoy Golf Club
The parkland course is flat but beautifully enhanced with fine specimens of indigenous silver birch and oak trees. There are also two excellent par 4 practice holes, which become part of the course during the winter to allow repair work to be carried out on the main course.
All visitors will experience a first class welcome from the experienced Pro shop staff, first class caterers and administration team.
Founded in 1935, Ashby Decoy Golf Club has developed into a superb 18 hole golf course. Rich in local wildlife, the course provides a great challenge for golfers at all levels.
Founded in 1935 on poor quality agricultural land of sandy sub-soil nature by leasing 70 acres from the Ashby Decoy farming estate to provide nine-holes for 27 founder members. By 1947 the whole estate of 150 acres had been purchased and 18 holes established.
The course, somewhat uniquely, has 20 holes - 18 of which form a summer course of 6,281 yards par 71 with five par threes. The course is flat and very well provided with indigenous silver birch and oak trees.
The greens have a sprinkler system and the main fairways have sprinklers all lifted to an on-going irrigation programme. The seventh hole - the avenue - and the 16th hole, 'James Folly', are holes that visitors remember long after their visit.
